Brian Carroll, on 14 February 2010 - 03:00 PM, said:

just ordered a upgraded Aluminum radiator from Elise parts. Also thought while I'm at it to upgrade the air intake filter with a performance unit.
Next on the wish list is the aluminum intercooler upgrade ( a bit pricy) from Elise parts. Then a Motec M800 unit.
The problem is hiding the outlay from the wife !

Brian - good idea.
The Emerald is another option.

I know this has been done before, and I am not looking to take work away from those who have figured it out (Jeff, CitiPerf, etc), but I am a bit remote.

A few questions:
1) How does one hook one of these into the harness?
2) Is the alarm still operable?
3) Sync from the cam and the crank... what settings?
4) Base map?
5) Can a knock sensor be fitted?
6) anyone have any photos that can yield info (KenF, Zed)?

Would probably make some sense to make a harness to adapt into/onto the standard S2 ECU plug if more than one or two us are going this route.
I already have the crimper so that is a starting point.

Charliex Ecu - I'm Doing Something Dodgy.

Finally got round to sending a spare ECU off to CharlieX in the states. I'm getting the s240 + header tune. Unfortunately I don't have the 4-in-1 header that this has been tuned for - I'm using a quicksilver header 4-2-1. I didn't think this would be a big deal but I don't want anything to self destruct on me.

Charlie wasn't sure how it would go.

What I was hoping to find out is how do I check if it is safe? I am planning to dyno it - I have to look at AFR stuff right? What is too low?

I would hate to think I have to get a 2tublar set up - but I am prepared for the worst.

Yes... I know.

Dodgy.

What Aftermarket Ecu's Are People Running

Given that I myself am running a Haltech E8 on my S1 K-Series Elise - Curious to see what aftermarket ECUs people are running?

http://www.haltech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21&Itemid=18
The Haltech E8 ECU is an ECU capable of controlling sequential injection on 2 and 4 cylinder with semi sequential 6 and 8 cylinder applications. With 8 channels capable of controlling injection and ignition duties, the E8 can support most modern engines with multi-coil ignition systems, as well as conventional distributor ignition systems. In addition to controlling fuel and spark, the E8 can control various auxiliary engine functions such as:

- Stepper motor and BAC/IAC closed loop Idle Control
- Closed loop boost control
- Soft cut rev limiter
- Tuning via TPS with Manifold pressure correction - Ideal for those multi-throttle body turbo cars such as, GTiR Pulsars and GTR Skylines.
- O2 sensor closed loop mixture control
- 32x32 mapping structure
- On board data logging (up to 200 samples per second)
- User definable mapping points
- Numerous correction maps to ensure smooth drivability under varying operating conditions
- Windows Software
- The ability to calibrate just about any sensor for OEM applications and of course all the usual outputs you would expect to find in a Haltech engine management system.

Cheers,
