Run North For Noosa Hillclimb

Guys Noosa hillclimb is coming up. I am heading up North if anyone is keen to join me. Thought I may take a bit of a back road, leaving early, duck up behind the glass house mountains, breaky at Montville and then drive down into Noosa for the day. Any takers?? Will pass it onto Cameron from Aussie Exotics to post out to some of the other guys too. Could be a run with a difference. Any preference for Sat or Sunday the 17th and 18th respectively??

Just so everyone knows, Cameron will be movong overseas in December, so there will likely only be 1 more run arranged by him prior to this time, so i suggest next time there is one of his runs we all turn out for a great day.

Quote

So last Sunday we had ourselves a run up here. The Lambo club wanted to run with us so the invites were sent out. The Lambo club pres and I picked a date late last year without looking at them too much and managed to pick the long weekend which resulted in a few not being with us as they were away, but we still had 22 cars to begin with.

It was a great day, starting off in Brisbane we headed over Mt Nebo and Glorious which are both fantastic pieces of road with plenty of corners and even a series of hairpins on the way down! After that came the open country which was lovely, a way we had never gone before but will do again. We had lunch in Fernvale which was very good, we caused a fair bit of stir there that's for sure. Then the cruise back down the freeway to the coast in a group of 4 cars was great, I could be chased by an Aston anyday! Beautiful car. Anyway heres a few pics

Try Train & Test Day At Morgan Park

For anyone who is interested in more track time in practice at Morgan Park, the MG CC Qld is holding a Try, Train, and Test Day there on Sunday 11th July. It runs from 8 am to noon, and both the long and short circuit will be used. Entries received before 8th July are a very reasonable $60, otherwise $80. I believe you need to be an MG Club Member, but not sure. Supp Regs can be found on the MG CC website www.mgccq.org.au

For those of you wanting more track time, or those who were unable to get entries into the Morgan Park Sprint Series, I draw your attention to the MG CC QLD's frequent track meets both at Morgan Park and QR at a very reasonable price, especially if you are a club member (you don't have to drop your LCQ membership - Support both clubs), and if balls to the wall racing is not your thing, then they usually include regularity races in their programmes - And let me tell you, if you nominate a quick time, regularity races are not tame like most people imagine. An increasing number of people who find they are not competitive in their own class are moving to regularity, where they have an equal chance of winning against any other car (Honda Engined or otherwise !!). Entry fees are also a LOT cheaper than for the full races, yet you are also part of the bigger programme for the day. I am looking at moving into these next year for a trial.
There will be lots of sports cars out there for you to show off the ability of your cars to. It would be great if we could get 10 or more Elises there for the day. I spoke to them last weekend and if we could ever get enough people out there on a regular basis, they would possibly give us our own class !! So come on, get your entries in, and come out and have a fun one-day event on the 16th. Confirm on here when you enter. Mine is already in, and Ron and John Prefontaine are both going to be there, so that is three of us already. So pull your digits out.

Buying From Nsw

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy an elise in the next few days, but its from NSW.

I'm from Queensland (hence posting in the QLD stuff), It seems there are two ways you can do things.

1. Leave the plates with the previous owner and apply for an unregistered vehicle cert.

2. Transfer the registration from their name to yours.

If anyone could give me a little more help on the process that would be great.
Thanks

Mt Cotton Hill Climb

Round 2 of the Tighe series at Mt Cotton this weekend. Ron and I are competing. From noon till 5 pm Sat and 8 am - 4 pm Sunday. Food and drink on sale in the canteen, and seats available in shade of the trees for spectators.
Don't forget that the MG Car Club Sports car hill climb (open to all sports cars, space permitting) is on 16th May, so now might be your last chance to see which way the track goes before then !! We really need to try and get about 20 Elises (or more) out there on 16th May, so come on guys - I will pass out entry forms as soon as they are put out.

Also I see there is an MX5 track day at Lakeside on 3rd May. Although this following invite is to the MG Car Club, I am sure if any Elises wanted to go the MX5 guyts would accomodate them - Call Geoff March and see. It is a public holiday so no one should be saying work is in the way !!

Crashed - Damaged Ego.

Turning up from stafford road on to shand in the wet. Didn't think I was going fast but the back stepped out. Surprised I classically over corrected and shifted too much weight to the front wheels and speared off in the other direction. No surrounding cars - just cross the road and went up an embankment. Not going too fast as I wasn't speeding. I think it was a combination of just the wet and uneven camber - I have never really had that before on that corner and I wasn't expecting it all.

Broke the splitter (again! thank god its "sacrificial"), badly kerbed 2 rims and broke a toe link.

Currently sitting outside Automotion - I'm hoping Chris can look at it tomorrow.

I figure a SSC toe link and rear panel delete will be coming sooner than expected.

I'm hoping that there isn't more damage. The clams look ok.

Better than getting it fixed with insurance and $1500 excess for stuff I was going to eventually replace anyway.

Just annoyed at myself as I've had a few of those situations before when I was pushing it a bit more and recovered no worries. I just didn't expect it at all and was too slow to react properly.

JoeA was kind enough to come have a look and be an objective eye.

Still love my car - always with the surprises.

Hsccq Motorkhana

As discussed at the LCQ meeting last night, HSCCQ are holding the first round of a 6 round series of Motorkhanas at Willowbank Raceway on 21st Feb. Entries are only $30, and you will need your CTP insurance extension and L2S licence, of course. (I think single day licences may be available on the day, but don't bank on it) But an excellent and low cost way for you to have some fun, learn how to handle your car on the edge but at low speeds, and with only cones to hit, be pretty sure of inflicting no damage if you lose it.

I have not been to one of HSCCQ's events before, but am considering doing some of these, including this first one. So sending in my entries today.................

I am not clever enough to be able to provide you with a link to the entry forms that Shane sent out to everyone last week, but Keith Butcher is the man to contact [mailto:butchy_hsccq@tpg.com.au] Tel 07 33513155. The email is below :-

Hi All

Please find attached the Sup Regs, Entry Form for all of 2010 and the confirmation form for HSCCQ Round 1 on 21st February to be held at Willowbank and this is also a come & try event so bring your mates along.

If you need a Multiple Driver Entry Form let me know and I’ll forward you one.

Remember you can tick all the events for the year if you think you MAY be able to come to them then all you have to do is fill in a confirmation for the upcoming event, if you do not come to a ticked event it does not matter as you are not committed until you fill in a confirmation for that event.

We will not be catering food for the events in 2010 unless somebody is willing to step up to buy and bring the food to events and assist in running the BBQ, we will still be supplying drinks.

Hope to see you all there
Keith Butcher

Euromarque - Pleasantly Impressed

Had some warranty work done on the car with Euromarque.

I'm not sure if you guys have had much to do with them but I was pleasantly impressed by the service. I've been to them twice now. The head guy and the mechanic were very enthusiastic about the brand it didn't feel like the usual lip service. The mechanic was stoked at taking care of these cars as it is something different from the fiats/alfa's and their section doesn't work on the mazzas and ferrari's. Everything went smoothly - had a alfa 147 as a loan car, I was called about what they had found and what they were doing about the car, had it parked the the fancy-shmancy bentley section and my tyres were actually at the correct psi when I left (something I always had to check when I had to get stuff from Zupps .. " we always inflate the tyres to 35psi as most people don't check them...").

It was the first time since I had the Audi that I felt that I have had service this good.

Although I will mainly still go to Automotion for my stuff - it was a good experience and the loan car can be very useful for me in certain situations. I have no doubt that I will use them at some stage - and not live in fear for what they could do to my car (compared to Zupps!)

I think they have more flexibility and tolerance for this brand as they also sell other non mass-market cars.

Early days still - but I thought it was worth a post.
