Yep you read it right I'm selling my 2007 Exige S and your probably thinking 'what the hell'. Well to explain I am starting a new business venture with a friend (who I met here on AE actually) and I need a practical station wagon with lots of boot space to generally be a workhorse for the company. Now as most of you know I live in Sydney's CBD where I'm Lucky to have 2 car spots but thats it. I simply do not have space to keep my lovely Lotus if I buy this new work car which I have to.

The car was originally imported by Lotus Australia and purchased by Andrew Fisher for the Lotus Trophy series.(now V8 Ute Driver)
I have been friends with Andrew for many years and remember driving this car the day he brought it home and know for a fact that it never had any BIG hits while Andrew was driving it (they all had minor rubs but this car has a totally redone body on it now anyway).
The car was raced in the Lotus series for about 2 years after which it sat at Andrews house unused until I bought the car.
I have run the car as a Production based car in the IRace series for the last 2 years. During the time I have owned the car it has never been in any accident at all.
12 months ago I decided to give the car a complete freshen up and have totally re painted the car in Porsche 997 GT3 Orange (originally midnight blue).
After recently purchasing a damaged 2005 Elise of which I will now use as my race car the time has come to sell this one as it is too good a car to be a race car.

This car is now back to complete road spec. I have removed all the race parts and replaced them with all standard OEM parts. Engine, gearbox, suspension and interior are all back to std road based items.
The only items that are none standard are
Adjustable front Sway Bar
Poly Bushes throughout
Braided Brake lines
Leather seats and door trims
HKS Pod Air filter
HID Headlight upgrade
Rota Wheels
The car has new Kumho Tyres, Bilstien Shocks, New Front windscreen, and long rego.

I have a set of used Team Dynamic Racing Wheels only, (no tyres) for sale in Satin black
They have a few marks on them but are in overall great condition and look great on the car. These wheels suit S2 Toyota cars only and will fit cars with the Big Brakes fitted.

It has done 25,550 km and in excellent condition with nothing to spend.
It is build number 16 of the 340 made.
I have had the car serviced by Zagame’s in Melbourne including a cam belt change.
I bought the car from Shannon’s Sydney auction on 2008.
It was originally sold new by Stratton’s in the UK in 2000 and imported as a personal import, which means it can be legally registered in any state.
It is currently on Victorian Registration.
I have a complete file of records on the car from new, including owner’s manual, service books, receipts, etc.
I have the original blue Lotus tonneau cover.
With 190 bhp at 7800 rpm and only 640 kg weight it accelerates to 100 kph in 4.2 seconds.
Fitted with ultra close ratio gearbox , Titan motorsport rack and pinion steering (non power assisted), adjustable platform Konis, co-axial Eibach springs, AP Racing callipers, Janspeed ceramic coated exhaust, titanium muffler, Safety Devices roll bar, 4 Point Schroth competition harnesses, Lotus alcantara racing seats, heated front screen, carbon fibre guards,Kumho V70A tyres and no radio.
However it is the way it goes round corners quicker than most supercars that really impresses with this lightweight aluminium and composite masterpiece.
I believe there are only three registered 340Rs in Australia, and the advantage is that you can drive it everywhere, including driving to and from a track day, without having to worry about a trailer, unlike a 2- Eleven (& quicker with the right driver according to the mags).
EVO Magazine rated the 340 R as one of the five greatest driver’s cars ever and actually came 2nd after a Pagani Zonga F at a cool Mil plus.
I am asking $95k for the car which is what is has cost me and I don't think I paid too much, but we will see.

Built February 1971 and first registered in August 1971. This all white from the factory drop head coupé was extensively modified in 1975 for the British racing driver Mike Yardley. It was used in hill climbs. Modifications undertaken at that time were boring and sleeving the block to 86.5mm (giving a capacity of 1850cc), fitting of L1 camshafts, Cosworth dry sump pump with sump tank mounted in the boot, Dellorto DHLA 45s, Salisbury LSD, solid driveshafts, strengthening of wishbones, Revolution magnesium knock on wheels, pedal box and dual master cylinders and balance bar and ultra close ratio gearbox.

At about the same time, Lotumotion modified the front wheel arches and the headlights to 26R specs. The car was fitted with an aluminium bonnet and boot lid. A Lenham rollbar was fitted and the car also comes with a hard top supplied by them.

In 1979 a later owner of the car brought it to Australia and the car was in Melbourne between 1979 and 2002. The owner previous to me bought the car at that time and it went to Perth. The engine gearbox and diff were rebuilt.

Numerous parts are included in the sale price. I spent about $18,0000 on these. They are mostly go fast bits from Tony Thompson Racing which I intended to fit. The car also comes with a spare bonnet, bootlid and passenger side door, cylinder head, new steel crank, rods and flywheel and a spare semi close ratio gearbox.

A excellent opportunity for someone with the time to fit the parts!

Bump steer is basically the change in toe in/camber of the road wheels caused when the arc of the steering rack arm differs to the arc of the wheel travel, i.e. when the wheel travels through its full bump and droop motion, the wheel will toe in/out at different points of movement.

During this motion the wheels will tend to steer themselves and this is felt through the steering wheel as bump steer.

This reduced bump steer kit offers several advatages over the steel OE steering arms.

Supplied with several height adjusting conical washers for fine tuning at whatever ride height required.

Lightweight yet strong aluminium steering arms are less than 1/2 the weight of the original cast steel steering arms and a great saving of un-sprung weight.

My Exige is going to spend a couple of weeks in Lee's Simply Sports Cars new workshop at the beginning of September and come out with his Harrop supercharger and chargecooler.

The more I drive this car, the more I love it, a couple of T&T days at Winton really made me realise how good these cars are. . . I have even stopped writing Lambo Gallardo on every shopping list the handbrake writes, much to her amazement!

Probably fit the Nitrons and Nolathene bushes around the same time, Oh dear, I'm in trouble aren't I.

Anyway, I need to sell the supercharger setup that is on the car now, it was fitted brand new in Jan by Lee and has his alloy intercooler etc. Supercharger has done around 6000km ( inc 2 test and tune days) only.

Must be worth around $6000.00?

This kit was running on my car and it had been used in 35+c heat and it works.

For those who don't know much about water spray kits, the key factor is being able to atomize the water enough. The smaller the water vapor drops the more air can pass between the drops creating cooler air. The main problem is with most water spray kits is they are just hydroponic nozzles that are not effective at atomizing the water. This kit runs a 200psi 12v pump and high pressure hose with a custom nozzle, when spraying on your hand it barely wets it which means you use very little water compared to a normal water spray kit that uses so much water that after 2 laps at the track you have run out of water.

I have spent a lot of time on this kit to make it the best possible combination to be able to atomize the water and yet still be simple and effective.

Instead of running the roof scoop I did away with it totally and fitted a cover over the intercooler shroud. I fitted the water spray nozzle in the centre and also fitted 2 right angle pipes which I added race hose too and fed down to the side scoops on either side. The water spray bottle was fitted in the boot and a small hole was drilled in the boot to pass the high pressure hose through and up to the cover over the shroud (see pics)

This was very effective as it drew the cooler air from the side of the car instead of over the roof and the hot air of the radiator. Neil Trama looked at the data many times in VERY hot weather and the numbers were good. This setup works and is the ONLY option to look at unless you want to spend the big bucks for a charge cooler.

When I bought the kit it came with the water spray controller. I didn't use the controller as I had it hooked up to the Motec but I believe its a great setup and easy to use.

The kit includes:
The 5 litre water tank with the 200PSI pump (near new pump)
High pressure water hose with fine spray nozzle
Water spray controller
Cover for IC with angled pipe fitting for side scoop air pipes.

The bike is almost new, virtually unused, but between 20 and 30 years old. Here's its story.

In the mid 80's we applied for permanent residency in Oz, and before we left Africa I wanted to do something noteworthy. I was training for an ultra marathon and going well, when 3 weeks before the event suffered shin splints and could not run. I was determined to leave Africa on a high note so entered for the Argus Tour, a 110 km bike ride across 3 mountain passes, touching 2 oceans. The year I rode, there were 16,000 entrants from all over the world. My road bike was fine, but this was my African departure and it had to be a blast.

Money was not a consideration, I went to the leading specialist in Johannesburg and he and I hand picked a frame and the best components for him to build me the very best bike. I chose the then state of the art Colnago frame. At that time Suntour were a small specialist high end manufacturer, SuperbePro their top of the range so that went on my bike. All the other bits were the best too, Mavic wheels, top saddle, nothing was too good.

I had 3 weeks of training and rode the tour. The bike was a blast, I had never ridden anything so responsive and fast. I shipped the bike to Oz with the rest of our things. Shortly after we arrived, I was seriously injured in a car accident. The prognosis was not good.

My bike remained in storage but I was determined to ride it again, and I did. Then, having achieved my goal, I hung it in my garage where after around 25 years it still hangs, never again used.

Recently, I've noticed some surface rust on a few small places. I think a special machine like this should be used and appreciated so it is time to sell it to someone who is able to enjoy it.

I'm expecting around $2,500 for it. The size is F 16-7 and R 17-8.5. They are the lighest wheels of that size available for the Exige/Elise being 5.5kg and 7.0kg respectively

They will not fit an S2, they will only fit an S1. Whilst they were designed for the Exige, they will fit an Elise with minor fettling of the return on the wheel arches (yes they will fit).

I have a buyer for a half set (one front, one rear) hence the availability of the other half set (as spares for somebody who purchased in the original group buy), but would sell the complete set if a buyer emerges.

Why don't I put them on my Elise you may well ask....I have a set fitted on it already and this set was purchased as a spare set to help get the group buy underway.

The price is what they cost me.............$1100 per wheel. They are still in their boxes as delivered, brand new.

Having a clean up and have up for sale a VDO/Dayton MS4200RS, Single DIN CD/Radio with built-in Sat NAV. For mine this is one of the best solutions for Sat NAV is an Exige/Elise as you don't need worry about carrying, hiding or removing your NAV unit from the car. Uses voice guidance and basic pictograms on screen as apposed to the moving map TOM TOM style. Comes with MAP CD, GPS antenna and is in very good condition. Has ISO connections so a plug and play solution.

I thought it might be useful to start a seperate thread on this issue, as I am sure I am not the first and won't be the last person to grapple with used Exige pricing issues.

I am in the market for a used Exige but I am suffering serious sticker shock.

I was quoted a price just under $100K for a brand new stock Exige S the other day without any haggling. The RRP is now only $104,990. The price can climb a fair bit with colour and option choices but it serves as a benchmark for used car prices.

2005 model N/A Exiges are on the market for between $69k and $75k. They may be low mileage but you never know the full history or whether lack of use will cause further problems down the track.

Add a supercharger from SSC to the N/A car and you could have spent 75% to 80% of new car price for around a five year old car with no warranty and which may not match your ideal colour/options configuration.

In the current climate where used cars have saturated the market (thanks to Kev's business incentives to buy a new car) and there are plenty of discounts to be negotiated, these used prices just don't seem to align with reality.

The recent $10K price reduction for the new Exige S should have punched down the used prices by a similar amount but the prices do not seem to have shifted.

Why would a 2005 Exige defy the laws of depreciation? It appears supply exceeds demand as there are a number of cars for sale but not much evidence of sales.

I have the budget and conditional approval from my wife. I am keen to move forward but need to work out what I think is a reasonable price.

Red Book may be considered unreliable for these cars but I assume they are based on some sales or an average rate of depreciation and typically (assuming adequacy of supply) the depreciation rates are higher for exotics than for more generally sought after vehicles. Motor magazine (which may be no more reliable) suggests a depreciation figure for the Exige after 3 years. From memory, I think value was down to around 60% after 3 years.

If the post in the other thread is right and Lee can bring in a highly specced 2006 Exige from the UK for around $60k, I don't see how these higher prices for 2005 cars can be justified.

Even $60k seems a lot to pay for a 5 year old car that can be bought new for around $100k.

I am a serious buyer but need to be convinced that I should pay the level of price being asked.

Ran these for about 5000km, some track use. I measured approx 0.75mm wear front and negligible rear. Never over heated.

Changed to Girodiscs 2 piece front and rear.

I regularly travel upcountry so the 5000km are long km. It's 2005 built MkII n/a that was first registered in Australia in Aug 2008 when I collected it from Zagames.

It's covered just over 7,000km, which included 4 gentle Sandown trackdays (2 were in the wet). It's never been bumped or been off track or road.

Registration is EXIIGE (perfect for mk II Exige!!)

Spec is pretty basic with cloth seats, but it does have central locking, aircon, oil cooler and ohlins. It also has a very nice sounding Lotus sports exhaust, and I still have the original.

If someone wants to pay $65,000 ovno it's yours, if not it'll be coming with us on the boat. The Lotus new car warranty is valid until end August 2010, so you'll have no nasty surprises.

Condition is excellent (it's our 3rd car and always garaged), all wheels are perfect, and I've touched up any small stone chips.

I'm new to the forum but whilst cleaning the garage for the new toy I found some Elise stuff from the old days that I'm giving away to any Elise owners who have a Series One Elise and can pick the stuff up from Camperdown in Sydney.

This is what I've got.

[*]A roll bar brace(runs from the hoop to passenger footwell) and is an original Lotus Motorsport product from 2000
[*]4 original aluminium alloy brake rotors (used but in good condition)
[*]A set of partly used rear brake pads to suit alloy rotors
[*]K&N low restriction air filter to fit original airbox
[*]A custom made rear suspension mount stabiliser (bolts on under the car) and really stiffens the rear end for track work
[*]4 Pirrelli wet weather race tyres (old but hardly used)
[*]A rain shower cap - aluminiumised canvas covers that velcros on over the windscreen, windows and hoop (beats putting the roof up just for parking if there is a bit of light rain)

Never fitted to the car. New Nitrons mean I can't drive out of my place without scraping it so it's wasted.
Stored out of box against a wall so possibly some minor scraping on the bottom of the veins. Can't be seen and will get scraped eventually.

It also needs a cut out if you have a diffuser exit exhaust. Sector III are selling these for U$950 at the moment (plus shipping). I'm selling for A$900. Prefer Sydney pick up. Drop me a pm if interested.

They are one way adjustable Bilstein dampers, with are Eibach springs, and are height adjustable. The fronts have remote cansiters.

The kit is in excellent working order, but now I am just looking at heading down another (more expensive) path.

This kit contains mechanical part required to convert you NA Exige (or Elise) to a 300+hp Supercharged monster.

MP62 Supercharger
Intercooler with piping
2ZZGE Lotus Factory SC Manifold
Smaller Pulley (83mm) 3.2 Inch
SC Dipstick + Holder
Intercooler to Roof Scoop
Bolts Spacer & Mounts
I even have a belt for a non AC car if required.
This kit would also suit an Elise. You would need to make up a different intercooler setup, but that shouldn't be to hard to do.

The only thing you would need to do to once fitted is choose which ECU path you want to travel down based on your budget and power needs.
This kit fitted to your standard engine would be easily capable of 300+hp.
Lee at SSC can supply a complete ECU for $3,000 which could achieve these figures
ECU would also include a base tune by Neil Trama, so all you would need to do is plug and play.
I will even include fitting instructions as it is not really that hard to do or can arrange fitting if required.

If you think driving your car in standard form is great, then the experience is 10 times better with the Supercharger.
The car is a lot more drivable around town and has so much low down torque you would think you were in a V8.
But apart from all that, the sound is intoxicating!!!!!!!

I am sad to part with this almost brand new exhaust. Only been on my car for less than a week. It is a Larini Sports System with Slash Cut tips (std). The exhaust is made for Elise S, Elise R, Exige S2. It gives a nice deep tone with no drone. However my wife found it too loud. It is in fact not too bad, the exhaust is still on my car and you are welcome to test listen if you are in Melbourne and seriously interested.

Bought it from Elise-Shop for EURO 455.29 + 155 postage. = Euro 610. With exchange rate of 0.72,= A$850. I will sell this for A$750, it is less than a week new and save you all the hassle.

Car has been a company vehicle from new, and I inherited it in early 2005 with 145000 kms on the clock, and since then I have made sure that it has always been serviced and replacement parts added as required by the local Ford dealer, in the knowledge that when I left the company (which I did on Dec 31st last year) I would purchase it from the company. It now has 196000 kms on it, and will have about 200,000 on it in a couple of weeks as I am going to Sydney in it next week. For the last 5 years the car has had a company computer tell tale fitted that reported speed, braking and acceleration to our company each month, and if we went over 110 on the speedo (or 104 kmh in true speed), or if we braked or accelerated hard, then we got spanked. Consequently this car has been driven like a woos for the last 5 years !!! The computer tell tale has now been removed !!

It is mechanically sound according to Ford, been in no accidents, and the body has average wear and tear - Certainly not perfect, but only surface blemishes (Hey, it is a Ford !!) 2 minor rust spots, one in the bonnet (not visible, and this has been oiled / WD 40's regularly by me to keep it at bay) and one on the boot where there is a slight rust bubble becoming evident from a screw where some rear trim is attached - Again, not visible from outside.

I am only selling it because I want a (way) smaller car under 1100 kgs that I can put on the trailer when I am Winnebagoing. Wife has an old E Class Merc which we love, and we do not need two big cars as well as all the other toys ! Also not in a hurry - So if someone wanted it in a couple of months time, that would be fine.

The car is a 2004 Renault Clio Sport (172 model) in Flame Red in stock standard form. it's in a really good condition both inside and out and has only 53,500km on the clock. Has been maintained by Virage Motors of south Melbourne, one of the best Renault specialists in town.
If you don't know what Clios are all about, then in a nutshell: 172hp for 1050kg with one of the best RWD chassis out there. If Colin Champan did a FWD car, it would be a Clio.

I did this because I felt there were some problems with the one presently available. With this setup I retain my rear panel and number plate also all the heat shielding is left on the car and I can hinge the clam in the field using no tools but the two Allen keys in the Lotus toolkit in about 6 minutes on my own. I leave the battery in the boot and with my sealed Odyssey I can tilt the clam without even disconnecting the battery.
Pricing looks to be around $A 500 and the is very comprehensive and simple to instal. I just need to finalize the multimedia instructions when I do the next instal in a couple of weeks time.
Anyone interested ?

· Exige 06 or newer (06 year revisions include the revised interior and exterior LED rear lights amongst many other minor updates)

· Low KM and great condition

· Sports and Super Sports pack (hence the LSS forged wheels)

· Not fussed on Touring pack, would take it or leave it

· Colour: White as first choice but fairly easy on the colour, dislike Black (cant keep clean) would consider any other colour


  • Pref as minimim mods as possible as im looking at fitting SSC's 'Mark O connor' 380hp kit as soon as the car is purchased.

As I mentioned earlier, a mate in Darwin is seriously looking for a "lotus experience" for a couple of years and wants a Toyota powered car for around the 50K mark. He'll fly to whereever and drive it up here. Whats the best on the market at that price at the moment? His criteria will be something along the lines of touring pack, AC and hardtop. I doubt he will ever track it so base HP would suffice. As its Darwin I think a Silver/White type colour would also be a plus.

If you've seen my previous thread about selling my 2007 elise due to a growing family then you may be slightly confused with what this is about so let me explain -

My wife and i we're expecting a new baby and we were quite away into the pregnancy when tragically we lost our baby in a horrible circumstance. Naturally we were devastated and we count our blessings for the beautiful and happy little daughter we already have.

Whilst this was happening i had an offer on my 2007 car and i accepted it, the person who bought it was so excited and i did not wish to go back on my deal with him so hence that car has gone to a very good home.

I hope that explains the reason i've sold one car an now immediately wish to buy another.

So now that's all said i'm wanting to buy a rover engined series 2 elise in the next week or two.

I'm open to everything and anything.

If you have a car you're thinking of selling please let me know asap.

I know there are one's on carsales but for one reason or another i don't like any of them and would rather buy off someone here like i did with my last car.

Has anyone bought a car from interstate? What do i need to account for, e.g. should i buy it unregistered or transfer the registration? Do i need to account for a whole years rego costs? can i get a permit to drive an unregistered vehicle back home after permit?

I'm casting about for an oil pump and crank and cam pulleys from a K-series (non-VVC) if anyone has any parts like this lying around. Condition not terribly important as the parts will be re-worked.

Sadly, I threw exactly these parts away in my clean-up efforts when leaving the UK - Murphy says I had to find a use for them, and now I have! Nothing K-series or Elise-related, mind. It's another project entirely.

Just checking Aus, before bothering mates in the UK.

Hubcentric Wheel Spaces : These allow for fitment of Exige Wheels on a S2 (Rover) Elise. These are from Elise Parts in the UK and were on the car once. They include the spacer (with studs), high grade steel studs to attach to the original hub and wheel nuts – the complete kit. Excellent condition. $150 ono.

Elise Front Spoiler (Gloss Black) : Travelled 50km on the car and is unmarked. Includes all fitting equipment, brackets, bolts etc. $175 ono

The hardtop was purchased almost 1 year ago, it was imported from the UK and is made of fiberglass.
It has a beautiful groove through the middle of it which i feel looks really nice when on.
I shall show a picture of the car with hardtop on in a few days from now.
IT really compliments the car and makes it look like a super-coupe!!!

Well the exciting day has come.
I have saved and saved and I now have enough to buy a Lotus Elise. (Another Toy to add to my Collection)

But you wouldn't believe it. There are NO yellow ones for sale anywhere.
The only one that is for sale is a 2004 Model 111R in VIC for $55k with 18000k's on the clock.

Now I want one, but for $55K... That's just pushing it.

Especially when I have seen club members sell there cars for around the $40k mark.

So.... If you have a YELLOW Lotus Elise and have thought about selling it to a very appreciated owner.
Then get hold of me asap...I wont stuff you around. I will travel anywhere in Australia and I will Hug you on arrival.
(Maybe even bring you chocolates too)

My empty garage awaits the arrival of my new pride and joy...And it will become part of my family.

For those that have not come across these, they look like the attached pic (pic courtesy of Easton).

They usually come in black or silver, (or combination of black and silver e.g black car, siler roo or vice versa.)
I've also done some custom colours. They also come in pairs, e.g 1 x left and 1 x right facing. Price for a pair is $10 for single colours ($8 for every pair after.); and $12 for two-coloured ones ($10 for every pair after.) Postage is included in the price.

Anyway, organising this across 2 sites is proving a little confusing... so from the old site i've already taken the following orders:

I need a condensor for my air con as mine is leaking(thanks for advice given on site,had lotus degassed and refilled(550grms)with dye and spotted leaks at front condensor could be seen through front grill,just remove first.

also after workshop manual haynes style....

With kids, family and work, I've not had the opportunity to spend any quality time with my Datsun 1600 race car (apparently the family is more important...go figure.). Actually I haven't driven it since the last track day I went to with you guys at Wakefiled Park. Subsequently it's currently looking very neglected.

It's currently taking up space I don't have so it's time to let it go :(

Briefly:

1972 Datsun 1600
Setup for 3J Improved Production racing (although the roll cage is aluminium and I think is now illegal)
SR20 DE motor from a Silvia
Haltech E6A engine management
OMP Race seat

She's a bit rough now, but in th right hands and few bucks, it would be great little track (or race car again) for not a lot of green.

I'm looking for about $3,500, but will take less (not much though ;) ) for a quick sale.
